Sam Griffin(6'1/PG/2019) has gathered quite a few offers this spring and summer playing with AutoNation including UTA, Arkansas St., NJIT, Northeastern, Elon, Yale, Brown, and FIU to name a few.  Before spring travel season began, Griffin had a good high school season helping Westminster Academy capture a state championship. Although he was playing at a high level, he was not gaining the attention that he was due until the spring began. During spring and summer, Griffin played with Team AutoNation, a Fort Lauderdale based program. While Griffin has received much of the notoriety this spring and summer his with fellow teammates  Chase Johnston, and South Miami High Schools Lee Flenor and Toru Dean also had exceptional summers which led them just shy of the prestigious Fab 48 championship game in Las Vegas. Each of those four individuals picked up scholarship offers.

Over the weekend we had the opportunity to catch up with Sam Griffin and find a few things out regarding his spring/summer experience, his recruitment and much more!

Q: What was your most memorable moment in the spring/summer playing with Team AutoNation?

Sam: Playing in the UAA Finals. UAA Finals was the biggest event I played in all year. Our team had the opportunity to play the #1 team in UAA (New Heights) and I had a monster game scoring 25 points leading all scorers on the biggest stage possible at the UAA Finals.

Q: Which part of your game do you believe has improved the most since this time last year?

Sam: My mentality. I have really worked on becoming the best player I can be each and every workout, practice and games.

Q: If you could pick any aspect of your game that still needs to be improved this season, what would it be?

Sam: I would say I have more work to do on my body. I'm putting in the work, and I'm getting older so I'm starting to see the results come together slowly.

Q: You've had a big summer in terms of your recruitment. You've picked up well over 10 offers and received a ton of interest. I know you've scheduled a few official visits, so give me an idea of who has been recruiting you the hardest and which schools are you planning to visit?

Sam: All of the schools that have offered me a scholarship are recruiting me hard and majority of them have me #1 on there board. So far I have two official visits set up which are: University of Texas-Arlington, as well as Arkansas State University. I am working on setting up some more visits as well. Recently I have been in contact with Loyola-Chicago who reached the NCAA Final Four last year.

Q: What are the most important factors  involved with helping you make a decision in the  recruiting process? Also do you plan to sign in the early signing period or in the late period?

Sam: Fit, but my parents are mostly helping me on my college decision and I plan to sign in the early period if possible.

After sitting down with Sam it is easy to see that he is a humble and hardworking young man who is set to have a great senior season and a sensational college career. Check out his spring/summer hig lights below courtesy of our friends at Hoop Movement . #HoopMIA
