I first met Trystan in December of 2016, we had an open scholarship and were in desperate need of a shooter. We got lucky that Trystan had an unfortunate recruiting experience, he didn't find a program that matched his talent level and didn't sign with anyone for the fall semester. From the first shot we saw him take our entire staff knew we needed this kid, and we needed him bad. Coach Rollie Massimino has openly called Trystan the best shooter he's ever had play for him in his 60+ years of coaching, at any level. This season at Keiser Trystan averaged 14.2ppg shooting 53% from beyond the 3pt line, while only playing 19 minutes per game! Beyond being able to shoot the basketball, Trystan has a special basketball IQ and is really talented moving off the ball. Cody Toppert, Assistant Coach of the Phoenix Suns coached Trystan when he was in high school and believes in Trystan's ability to play at the Division 1 level.
“The reality of it is there are not a lot of guys in the game these days who can flat out make shots. Trystan is a specialist. He makes smart decisions within his game, which allows him to play at high levels with the big dogs. He’s a student of the game. The kid wants to learn. He wants to get better everyday. You can’t have a harder worker. .”- Cody Toppert (Phoenix Suns)
Trystan's former AAU Coach Tony McIntyre, Director of CIA Bounce is also a huge supporter of Trystan's, he's been quoted saying, “Trystan Pratapas is the best shooter to ever come through the CIA Bounce program.”
Bottom line, Trystan's going to bring value to any program he plays for because of his character and work ethic. He's a future coach, he understands what his role is and he plays it perfectly. As a 6th man and "Spark Plug" this year, Trystan came off the bench and scored 20+ pts on 10 different occasions - Including a 28pt performance on 10-12 FG (7-8 3fg) in only 18 minutes!! He also led the nation in 3FG% at 53.5%!!
I highly recommend any program at any level looking for a shooter to take a serious look at Trystan. He and his family's priority is to find a program where he fits in academically, and will also be a major contributor on the court. For anyone interested in more information on Trystan I've posted his Player Profile from Elev8 Academy below, along with some of his stats from Keiser this past season. Any Coaches or Programs that are looking to contact Trystan - I've listed my number as well as Trystan's. Please reach out to either of us if you're looking for more information!!
