Yesterday I had the opportunity to sit down with Schoolhouse Prep Athletic Director Michael Guilbaud today to discuss the future of their basketball program.  “Coach G” as he’s known by  in the Miami community, was very excited to announce the decision to hire former pupil Colin Campbell as the new Head Coach of the School House Prep Wolfpack.
“I feel blessed to have the opportunity to bring Colin back to Miami following his two years at Eastern University working under one of my mentors Eric McNelley.  Colin and I first got to know each other back when he played for me at La Salle and we developed a strong bond while chasing a state championship together, I consider him family.”  Throughout our conversation, Coach G reiterated his desire to develop a culture predicated on family and standards in order to retain the past success he has developed throughout his coaching career.  I also reached out to Coach Eric McNelley to get his take on two of his former players reuniting and here’s what he had to say:
“Super excited for both Colin Campbell and School House Prep. School House Prep got themselves a passionate leader, a tremendous coach and an outstanding role model in Colin Campbell. He had a successful playing career at Manhattanville College but I believe his best years in the game of basketball are ahead of him.. It is truly humbling for me to see two guys that I coached during their high school years come together to lead a program such as School House Prep. I hope that the values and lessons that we all shared together will produce something special down in South Florida. I wish them nothing but success!!”
As a former teammate of Colin Campbell at Manhattanville I can attest to his passion for the game and dedication to developing a winning culture, we can expect to see big things from School House Prep going forward!!
