Emmanuel Dowuona, the 6'11 four-star (ESPN) center from Westwood Christian in Miami, FL, has ended his recruitment and has committed to Coach Matt Painter and the Purdue Boilermakers.  Dowuona,  the long, powerful, and resilient center who's a monster in the inside,  is currently ranked 87th player (7th ranked center)  in the 2018 class by ESPN and is expected to do big things his senior year.  Emmanuel spent the last few years playing AAU basketball under Coach Kenny Giillion, on Team Breakdown, one of the premier programs on the Under Armour circuit and in the state of Florida.  Gillion and the Breakdown staff have done a great job polishing Dowuona's offensive game which he has improved tremendously this summer; the center averaged 7.9 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game while shooting 59 percent from the field and was considered one of the top rebounders and defenders on the circuit.

Dowuona held offers from Clemson, Tennessee, Rutgers, Miami, FGCU, Memphis, Georgia Tech, UConn, Florida, and USF and was being heavily recruited by many more reputable programs.  Emmanuel took an official visit to Purdue in June and committed this week, a week before taking his official visit to Tennessee.  Coach Painter made Dowouna one of the top recruits on his board, making it apparent by conducting an in-home visit with Emmanuel, sitting down with his family and Coaches.  The center is a perfect fit for the Big Ten and has the ability to make an impact immediately with Boilermaker.

Dowouna  was one of the most sought after recruits in the 2018 class and is looking to make a statement this year at Westwood  Christian under Coach Jose Amat,  where he looks to prove that he's much more than a defensive presence and is in fact of one of the best centers in the country.
