Jamal Mashburn Jr.,  son of former Miami Heat small forward Jamal Mashburn, has been on an absolute tear since coming into high school. Mashburn Jr. has been playing varsity basketball since he was in 8th grade, giving him two years of high school ball under his belt heading into his 10th grade season. The (5'11/CG/2020) is not just a gifted scorer for his age, but one of the more gifted scorer's in the state. He has the ability to rise up and make shots off the dribble or make combo moves and get to the rim and finish through or around contact. Through 13 games on the UAA 15U circuit with the Miami Vipers,  Mashburn Jr. averaged 25.9 ppg while shooting 37% from three point range.

Mashburn Jr. is not the only talented guard from South Florida in his class, but he is the only one currently in attendance at Under Armour All-American camp in Philadelphia. While speaking to a high major college coach at UAA Finals last weekend in Atlanta, they made comments such as: " If this kid continues to grow, with his ability to score the ball, sky is the limit." While we cannot guarantee that Mashburn Jr. will continue to grow we are optimistic that a growth spurt is right around the corner. He currently wears a size 15 shoe which could be indicative of a growth spurt looming. Once he combines his size with his polished scoring arsenal Mashburn Jr. will quickly ascend to be one of the top players in his class.

As I eluded to earlier, Mashburn Jr is participating at Under Armour All American Camp, he is only one of three 2020's in the building at Philadelphia University. While we do not have stats from games last night we are in Philadelphia today and will give you updates from his performance later on this evening.

Mashburn Jr attends Gulliver Prep in Miami, and was selected to 1st Team All Dade County according to the Miami Herald High School. Look out for Gulliver Prep this season as they sport a talented young 2020's lead by Mashburn Jr., Tony Sanders, Diego Lamonica, and Gabe Taylor.
