Coming this fall Calusa Prep will be re-stablishing its basketball program under the leadership of new athletic director Michael Guilbaud. Guilbaud has served as the Athletic Director of Schoolhouse Prep for the past three years, building a program up from obscurity into one of the top programs in the state of Florida over the last two seasons. Now Guilbaud turns his focus on bringing Calusa Prep back to an age of prominence. Over the years Calusa Prep has had many incredible talents walk through the doors like Dennis Clemente, Victor Pena, Luguentz Dort, and Nathaniel Jack to name a few. Just like before Calusa Prep will be competing in the illustrious SIAA conference which boasts some of the nations top players and top teams. To compete at such a level Calusa will need a young passionate head coach and that's exactly what they have done with the hiring of Anthony Concepcion. Along with Concepcion, Coach G also added Thomas Roque as an Assistant Athletic Director.

Concepcion comes to Calusa Prep from Schoolhouse where he served as assistant coach to Colin Campbell over the past two seasons helping the team amass a 40-20 overall record during that time including two trips to the Lakeland home of the FHSAA State Championships. Concepcion an Eastern University graduate and senior captain played for Coach Campbell at Eastern and was crucial in the success of the Wolfpack program. Prior to his collegiate career Concepcion was a standout performer for the Miami High Stings playing for accomplished head coach Marcus Curreno. When talking about the hiring of Concepcion here is what athletic director Michael Guilbaud had to say. "Coach Ant is one of the best young basketball minds we have in South Florida. Coach has been around some great basketball minds as a player and has shown a great desire to improve the lives of his players as a coach. Often times youth can be considered a vice with certain jobs but here at Calusa Prep Coach Ant's youthful excitement and work ethic is exactly what the program needs to return to its hay-day as one of the states top programs. It is safe say Anthony Concepcion may be the perfect fit for the job."

When asked about the opportunity, Concepcion said, " I'm very excited and blessed to be accepting the Head Boys Basketball Coaching position at Calusa Prep. Calusa has a rich basketball history and I'm humbled and honored to lead this program to success.  Our goal is to get 1% better everyday in the classroom and on the basketball court."

Calusa Prep is located in West Kendall, Florida and is among the programs with the richest history in South Florida.  Coach G said, "Calusa Preparatory has seen many student athletes move on and participated athletically at the collegiate and professional levels, and I'm excited to bring our culture and tradition to this staple program.'

The school opened its doors in 1982 and was lead by Coach Tim Fowler for 30 years.  Fowler who won over 300 games in the 30-year time span and also brought Calusa multiple district titles, a regional title, and helped win their first State Championship (class 1A) in 2006.  Dr. Fowler now serves as the principal at Calusa is excited about the future," with Calusa Preparatory being a fully accredited K-12 (Cognia, SACS, & FCCPSA) I'm really excited to build up our athletics to the power house we once were." Check out the videos below for what went on in the past and what is going on in the future.
