We will be profiling three 2020 prospects weekly that are flying under the radar in South Florida. This is the first in a series of recaps that will try to raise the profile on college basketball prospects in this season’s senior class.

Justin Reid 6’6 Forward, Dr. Krop High School

Reid is possibly the best athlete in South Florida. He has elite speed, leaping ability, and lateral movement. The forward possesses a phenomenal motor and plays the game with great energy.  One of the things that stand out when watching him is how great of a communicator he is on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he is at his best in transition and can initiate the fast break for his team. He is a prospect that with a year of prep school or a JUCO stint can emerge as a legitimate Division 1 prospect. Reid has a tremendous ceiling and reminds us of Miami Dade College standout Elton Walker who recently signed with Austin Peay University.

Tyrecke Francois 6’0 Point Guard, Northeast High School

Francois is one of many talented prospects on the Northeast roster. He transferred in the summer fresh off helping lead Pompano Beach Ely to a state title. The lefty guard can flat out play. He plays with a great competitive edge and can shoot, drive, and pass. He should have a big season for the immensely talented Hurricanes and that should translate into college attention for Francois. The point guard is also a plus defender that takes pride in guarding the opponents top perimeter player.

Vee’lesk Avin 6’4 Shooting Guard, North Miami High School

Avin is one of the more underrated scorers in the area. He transferred to North Miami from Krop in the offseason and along with Pioneer standout Carlos Hart forms one of top scoring tandems in the state. The shooting guard can fill it up from three point land in a hurry and has great range on his jump shot. He has the ability to run the point for spurts as well. He can score from every level in high school and with improved strength that should translate to the next level. He is definitely a prospect college programs should be monitoring.
