The Warm-Up

 

The 5th annual HoopMia Warm-Up will once again feature some of the top teams in South Florida.The event has featured a long list of participants who have gone on to play at the next level and this year’s field will continue that trend. We will feature the top players in this year’s event in a pool by pool breakdown.

Pool A will feature great match-ups of some of South Florida’s top up and coming teams. Somerset Pines features a talented mix of youth and veterans led by 6’6 Nathan Montaque, who is a knockdown shooter. Mater Lakes has a dynamic duo of freshman guards and have a very talented group of 2022 and 2023 prospects. Coral Park is led by Ga’khari Lacount, Lynn University commit, and have a group of veteran players that have the school set to be a top contender. Southridge’s Farid Saintcyr is one of the area’s top players and are a part of 6a, which may be the state’s best region.

Pool B features some of the area’s top programs and features several national prospects. Westminster Academy is an annual state title favorite and is led by big time sophomore Ben Middlebrooks. Doral Academy, fresh off a 31-1 season, features Devin Carter who is one of the best scorers you will find. Gables has an impressive group of underclassmen and is a top contender in 7a. Northeast is loaded with young and experienced talent and will be a can't miss watch all season.

Pool C features a quartet of teams that are looking forward to big seasons. Fort Lauderdale is led by Jordan Shorter and play an exciting brand of basketball. Columbus, who has a new coach and some talented newcomers, will be a breakout team this season. Miramar, who is always one of the top teams in their region, features Citadel commit Brent Davis. Westminster will be one of the favorites in 3a and is anchored by its big man 2021 James Henderson.

Pool D features some high level prospects and some of the top athletes at the event. South Miami has a trio of division 1 prospects that has the Cobras looking to capture a state title. Coral Springs has a very talented mix of prospects and is set to be a top contender. Schoolhouse Prep, fresh off the school’s first appearance in Lakeland, has an impressive group of returners and newcomers that has the Wolfpack ready to claim the school’s first state title. PBC hoops features a group of talented Palm Beach prospects from various schools.
