Five Takeaways from US Amateur South Florida Showdown

  1. There was a lot of talent in South Florida Showdown starting with the Landfall Elite who won the 11th grade division. Landfall Elite featured Yussif Basa Ama a highly regarded 2020 prospect who already has offers from FAU & FGCU. He was among many of their talented players who helped lead them to a championship this weekend in the 11th grade division.
  2. Miami City Ballers 7th grade team is legit. Behind some flashy new uniforms Miami City Ballers 7th grade group won the championship this past weekend at South Florida Showdown. Reece Randolph will be a problem watch for his development to coincide with a growth spurt because this kid already has a big time skill set.
  3. DC’s Finest 9th grade group is an up and coming program who just captured there first championship of the spring. This group wasn’t the most talented team in their division but found a way to continue winning games.
  4. Wellington Wolves & Jupiter Jaguars have strong programs from top to bottom. There are a TON of travel teams now but you can always count on Wellington Wolves and Jupiter Jaguars to have good players who understand how to play the game of basketball. Tons of kids have had success and will continue to have success with these two programs. Models of consistency.
  5. DS Sportsplex is the nicest facility in South Florida. Boasting six courts, the facility is second to none in terms of the number of available courts, proximity to the highway and the ability to watch multiple games at once.
